Force.com platform provides a powerful Metadata API. Metadata describes about your application components (custom user interfaces created using Visualforce, generated page layouts, and even Apex classes) and provides an API for programmatic access to the configuration and source of your application.
Moving Your Data
To access or move your data you can use Force.com’s SOAP API, REST API, or Bulk REST API, or other APIs, tools, and capabilities like import-export tools or Data Loader.
